About Us

The Full Story

Robert Smith and Jack Farrow set out on a mission in 2016 to change how the Scala Penetrometer or Dynamic Cone Penetrometer equipment is used across New Zealand.

The conventional equipment requires each Anvil to be screwed on and off each 1m penetrating rod and this takes a significant amount of time, as well as producing repetitive strain injuries to the forearm...if you know, you know!

The RockAnvil design has been developed over years of trials and field tests undertaken by Robert and Jack until finally having a completed, working design that we are proud to sell. The RockAnvil has the ability to work with a range of existing Scala Equipment, including the equipment sold by the two largest suppliers of geotechnical investigation equipment.
